After meeting for more than 10 years in a rented Elementary School Gymnasium, the Cambridge Vineyard purchased a Catholic Archdiocese campus including four buildings: a Sanctuary, Convent, School, and Rectory. An analysis of the program and existing facilities resulted in a concept that rotated the seating orientation of the Sanctuary by 180 degrees.
The most striking aspects of the design are the 50 acoustic “clouds” suspended in the barrel vault of the nave, and the 50 ft. high glass curtainwall that seperates the lobby/fellowship area from the worship space. Other scope included: A new accessible entry with canopy, renovated Chapel, Fellowship Hall, new restrooms, elevator, and extensive audio/visual work.*
